The forms and concepts are meant to guide us to the places and things we can’t yet conceptualize. They aren’t meant to be goals in and of themselves, nor are they meant to be possessed. Sailors seek the northern light for what it represents, not for what it is. It’s a star, in the distance and holds no other meaning intrinsically. But it’s always aligned in the same way, so it’s trustworthy.
The ideal is a representation of the divine. We’re not meant to be divine but to aspire towards the divine. Not to conquer it but to surrender to it.
