You know, I just realized something profound. The internet age was the shift from using our five senses to connect and discover the world, to using our intuitive senses. For a long time I thought that we’d been negatively affected by social media and the booming internet culture because of the obsession with social media and the foolishness therein, but I was wrong. It only brought out what was already within us. We’ve never had a medium to observe our inner world.
The internet is like a collective mind where we communicate telepathically; well, not in that sense, but when we share stuff, send messages, like pictures; we influence one another despite the great distance. We’re like thoughts and internet-enabled devices like pc’s and tablets are neurons that connect to each other to form a neural network.
Before this era, life was about survival. You had to be fit and alert to live long enough to have offsprings you could pass on your genetics . Now it’s about spiritual growth, emotional intelligence, and introspection and we might have to change the adage to, ‘survival of the most intuitive’.
Whereas the pinnacle of success used to be security, now it’s insight.
We think we can distract ourselves from the frightening prospect of finding out about ourselves in the silence of solitude, but all in vain. We cross from one end of the world to the next within a day, we build skyscrapers, we go to outer space, we probe the deepest oceans. We hope to outstrip our existential anxieties by technological advancements only to find that those anxieties welcome us as we touch down in new levels and realms. This, because the truth permeates everything and there’s simply no escaping it.
[We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?]
