  1. Thanks for posting; I’ve always wanted to see a summarised and “written” form of somali language learning. I’ve actually learned a few somali words (never though i’d say this, lol). is there also a way you could present a summarised basic grammar which includes feminine & masculine words as well as pronouns and tenses?

I’m glad it’s of use. Why did you never think you’d say that? And can you expound on the basic grammar you had in mind?

      • I never thought I would say that I have learned new Somali words on the Internet, I just thought that I would eventually improve my Somali through conversations with Somalis. With regards to the basic grammar, Its things regarding speech and sentence structure I’ll just list soke of the things that you would consider writing about:
Prepositions (this one I seriously need)
        Comparative verbs & superlative verbs
        Conjunctions
        Tenses
Case (as in subject, object possessive cases)
And others that I have missed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll do my best. Keep suggesting what you’d want to see. I’m currently working on animals (a tough ‘un!)

This is great considering the fact that our elders believe we don’t know as much of our language as we should lol quick correction tho..murugsato is index finger, suulgambi is actually another name for the thumb?

oh yeah !! You’re right ! Thanks for catching that !
I already began testing my parents on difficult words I found and then telling them what the definition — how good it feels to not be clueless for once :p
